KENSINGTON SOCCER CLUB ENTRY IN WPSL WILL SHINE NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT ON PHILADELPHIA’S TALENT-RICH UNDERSERVED COMMUNITIES

OKLAHOMA CITY (12/30/2025) — The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced today Kensington Soccer Club will join the league for the 2026 season. The addition of Kensington Soccer Club further strengthens WPSL competition in and around metropolitan Philadelphia, while providing pathway options to some of the city's most underserved communities.

“At Kensington Soccer, we offer opportunities to players at all levels, from grassroots to an emerging group of competitive players, Tim Summiel, Kensington Soccer Club technical director, said. “Playing in the WPSL will help shine a light on the positive progress our club and community is making within the game of soccer and beyond.”

The club was founded in 2010 with the goal of providing quality and affordable soccer for the surrounding neighborhoods of Philadelphia, where discrimination based on race or ethnicity, lack of facilities and transportation, and unaffordable fees have limited opportunities for many who wish to play soccer. Over the club’s 15-year history, Kensington has provided recreational and competitive playing opportunities for youth and young adult players, offering small-sided leagues and fielding teams in local leagues and amateur cup competitions.

“Inclusion in the WPSL allows Kensington Soccer Club to expand opportunity, elevate our players, and prove that high-level competition and access to the game to underserved communities can exist side-by-side,” Barbyose Noisette, Kensington Soccer Club executive director, said.

In keeping with the club’s core values of Diversity, Development, Inclusion, Justice, and Equity, Kensington is highly active in many community programs including after-school, violence prevention, food and book drives, and offers free soccer clinics throughout the year.
