CHATTANOOGA FC ROLLS TO SOUTH REGION TITLE

 

Chattanooga FC is going to Stillwater. 

 

Three goals in the first half hour, and a fourth in second half stoppage time gave Chattanooga a 4-0 win over LA Krewe Rush in the South Region Final Sunday in Leesburg, Va. 

 

 

Hanna Tillett got things rolling for Chattanooga in the 13th minute from close range after being put on goal by a cheeky chip from Reese McDermott inside the penalty area. The goal was Tillet’s third goal in 11 appearances for Chattanooga on the season. 

 

McDermott and Tillet swapped roles for Chattanooga’s second. Tillet found McDermott in the middle of the park for her team-high ninth goal of the season with a blast to the bottom left corner from 30 yards out. 

 

Annick Lolita Manga Zouma made it 3-0 in the 30th minute nodding home a cross from Grace Ambrose on the right side for her third postseason goal. 

 

Chattanooga should have made it 4-0 in the three minutes after Manga Zouma’s goal, but McDermott failed to convert a penalty kick after Manga Zouma was brought down in the penalty area going to goal. McDermott inexplicably bounced the ball off both posts before it was cleared away. 

 

Chattanooga spent the next hour peppering the Krewe Rush goal but were unable to find the fourth until Regina Campa nodded a long free kick to the far post to make it 4-0 and give Chattanooga FC the East Region title.

With the win, Chattanooga FC moves to 3-0-0 in the postseason and 8-1-1 overall. 

 

Chattanooga FC will face reigning WPSL champions and West Region champions, California Storm, in the nightcap of the WPSL Championships on Friday at Neal Patterson Stadium on the campus of Oklahoma State University. Kickoff is set for 8:15 p.m. (CDT).
