It has been a pretty good week for FC Monmouth. Two massive wins—including an epic six-goal affair and a win over a nationally ranked team—along with a hard-earned draw in Matchweek Five put Monmouth within reach of the top of the Colonial Division table in the club’s inaugural season, earning Global Scarves Team of the Week Honors.
“The players and coaches have all exceeded our season expectations so far this year,” James Davis, FC Monmouth general manager, said. “As we are now over halfway through the season and in a playoff push, I hope we can continue this positive momentum.”

Monmouth kicked off the week traveling for a rematch with No. 19 and division leader, SJEB FC. Three days earlier SJEB FC dealt Monmouth its first and only loss of the season so far.
“Being our inaugural WPSL season and first competitive season for the women’s side of the club, we knew we would have our ups and downs,” Davis said. “Everyone has adapted phenomenally to overcome the challenges that have been thrown our way.
Monmouth avenged the 3-0 loss in spectacular fashion in the return match to kick off a grueling three-game Matchweek Five. Kianna Barber and Paige Seitz tallied goals in the 2-1 win, handing SJEB its first and only loss on the season.
On just three days’ rest, Monmouth took to the road for a second straight game to face Fever SC, living up to the age-old adage that successful teams earn three points at home and one on the road. Monmouth escaped Waldwick, N.J. with a 0-0 draw versus a crucial point on the road versus Fever SC.
“We had to rotate our squad a ton to get a result out of those three games,” Davis said. “Each and every player up and down the roster has been ready to step up and play their role, which has helped the puzzle pieces come together for us.”
Just 24 hours after picking up the point at Fever SC, Monmouth returned to the friendly confines of Count Basie Field to take on the unbeaten Delaware Ospreys in an enthralling, six-goal seesaw match. Sunni DiElmo scored her first goal of the season to put Monmouth up 1-0 in the 18th minute. Seitz, who leads the club in goals with three, scored her first of the game at the half hour mark to make it 2-0. After conceding two straight goals before the halftime whistle to make it 2-2, Grace Crowley put Monmouth back in the lead in the 54th minute, followed by a Seitz penalty kick in the 65th minute to make it 4-2.
The big home win over Delaware on Saturday pushed Monmouth (3-2-1) into second place in the Colonial Division, two points behind SJEB FC (4-1-1), and four points clear of third place Delaware (2-1-1). FC Monmouth returns to the road in Matchweek Six to face Penn Fusion SA on Saturday and rounds out the season in Matchweek Seven with three games, capped by the home finale June 22 versus Real Central NJ.
“It’s been an all-round group effort. Obviously, it starts with the player, but I have to shout out to our coaches and staff as well. With this many games in a short amount of time, we all have worn many hats on and off the field to get the job done,” Davis said. “I’m incredibly proud of our players’ efforts up to this point, but there’s still work left to be done this season.”
