WPSL EXPANSION CONTINUES IN SUNSHINE STATE

OKLAHOMA CITY (1/21/2025) — The Women’s Premier Soccer League officially welcomes Florida Premier FC as the league’s latest expansion slide for the 2025 season. With the announcement, the legacy Tampa Bay-area club adds to the league’s competitive history in the Florida region.

“We are thrilled to join the WPSL and provide an incredible platform for our players to compete at the highest level while representing Florida Premier FC,” Novi Maric, Florida Premier FC CEO, said. “This is a significant step in our mission to foster development and showcase the immense talent within our club and community.”

Founded in 1979, Florida Premier FC has grown to become one of Western Florida’s most respected full-service soccer clubs, offering programs from youth recreational to pre-professional levels. The non-profit club currently features more than 5,000 members, fields more than 300 competitive teams. To date, more than 300 Florida Premier FC players have committed to college soccer teams.

“Joining the WPSL is an exciting opportunity for our players to experience top-tier competition and take their development to the next level,” Ljubo Korda, Florida Premier FC Girls director of coaching, said.

Having served the Tampa area for nearly 50 years, Florida Premier FC is deeply rooted in the community, participating in numerous philanthropic ventures including the metropolitan ministries food drive during the holiday season, and aided in multiple disaster-relief drives after last year’s hurricanes.

The WPSL will unveil its official alignment for the 2025 season at its Annual General Meeting in Oklahoma City later this month.
