SARAH DWYER-SHICK NAMED
WPSL ASSOCIATE COMMISSIONER

OKLAHOMA CITY (1/13/2025) — The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced the naming of Sarah Dwyer-Shick as an Associate Commissioner. Effective immediately, Dwyer-Shick will oversee the 30-plus teams within the WPSL’s West Region.

“With its almost 30-year history and continued growth, I am excited to be part of the bright future of the league,” Dwyer-Shick said. “The opportunity for athletes to play and compete at a high level as a supplement to their college experience and after is truly special. As a Title IX baby, I would have loved the opportunity that playing in the WPSL provides.”

Dwyer-Shick brings an impressive resume as a player, coach, and advocate of women’s sports to her new role with the WPSL. In 2018, she founded the non-profit The Sports Bra Project (TSBP), which ensures athletes have access to equipment they need to participate in sports and provide a meaningful leadership opportunity for girls and women. To date, TSBP has provided sports bras to 147 organizations in 31 countries and 18 states, with more than 65% of the sports bras distributed to U.S.-based non-profits, with 221 individuals and organizations hosting collection events

A multi-sport athlete in high school, Dwyer-Shick played collegiate soccer and lacrosse at Smith College and the University of Denver.

After earning a MSM in Sports Management from the University of Denver, Dwyer-Shick began her more than two decade long coaching career, having served as head or assistant coach at all three NCAA divisions including Division I Stony Brook University, Marist College, and South Dakota State University, where she helped launch the women’s soccer program.

Dwyer-Shick currently serves as Goalkeeper Coach at Vassar College (Division III), and for five seasons she served as an assistant coach with a junior college men’s program. Over her career she has served as coaching and goalkeeping director for numerous youth clubs including the Girls North Olympic Development Program in New York, twice guiding teams to the U.S. Club Soccer National Cup finals.

Along with multiple advanced coaching badges, Dwyer-Shick sits on the United Soccer Coaches Ethics and Hall of Fame Awards committees.
