WPSL ADDS DEPTH IN THE ROCKIES FOR 2025
OKLAHOMA CITY (12/27/2024) — The Women’s Premier Soccer League confirmed today that Northern Colorado Rain FC will make its league debut in 2025. With the announcement, the expansion club joins seasoned WPSL sides out of Boulder, Colorado Springs, and Denver.
“We continue to keep our promise of bringing the highest level of women's soccer to the Northern Colorado region.” Kelly Brown, Northern Colorado Rain FC head coach, said. “Joining the WPSL provides us another great platform to do that.”
In 2024, Northern Colorado Rain FC went 8-3-1 for a second-place conference finish. Based in Windsor, Colo., 60 miles north of Denver, the club drew players from NCAA Division I and II colleges from across the region, along with the professional ranks, for its inaugural season.
“We have established an incredibly professional and high-level training and playing environment for our women for the summer months,” Brown said. “Inclusion into the WPSL will provide us the opportunity to compete on both a regional and national stage.”
With deep roots in Colorado soccer, Brown was named the club’s head coach at its founding last year and led the team to a successful, inaugural on-field performance. After a standout collegiate playing career at Regis University (Denver) and the University of Nevada Las Vegas, Brown coached for multiple clubs across the state. She began her collegiate coaching career as an assistant at Regis University, Colorado State University, and the University of Colorado before being named head coach at Regis University in the summer of 2020.
The WPSL will unveil its official alignment for the 2025 season at its Annual General Meeting in Oklahoma City in January.
