SALVO SC TRAVELS TO ST. CROIX LEGACY IN SEASON OPENER
AND CENTRAL REGION MATCH OF THE WEEK

During last year’s season, Salvo SC achieved an impressive 6-0-2 record in regular season play, securing its spot in the 2023 WPSL Playoffs. Salvo’s success was built on a strong defensive line – conceding only four goals all season, and with an effective attacking front, consistently outperforming most opponents – scoring 34 goals in regular season play.

The team continued its winning run in the Central Region Playoffs, defeating FC Milwaukee Torrent in the semi-final game, which extended into penalty kicks after an evenly matched 0-0 scoreline.

In the regional final, Salvo SC faced off against the Colorado Rapids Women. Demonstrating its continued domination, Salvo clinched the regional title with a 2-0 win and advanced to the WPSL Championship Series.

After defeating SC del Sol (West Region Champions) in the semifinals, Salvo SC faced the Charlotte Eagles, falling short in a narrow 0-1 defeat. Despite its runner-up finish in the National Championship; highlighting a season of high energy and technical skill, marked Salvo SC as a major force in the WPSL Northern Conference.

Currently in 2024, Salvo kicks off its regular season with renewed belief. Their first match up is against St. Croix Legacy, a team that went 4-5-0 last season, missing out on securing a spot in the postseason action. The two teams will face off in the Central Region’s Match of the Week on Friday, May 24th at Stillwater Area High School.

With high expectations and a desire to build on its previous success, all eyes are on Salvo SC to see if it can build on last year and begin the season strong and potentially make another deep playoff run.

St. Croix Legacy, eager to improve upon last season's performance, is backed by an experienced coaching group – led by Head Coach, Joaquin Izquierdo and supported by Assistant Coaches, Clara Webby and Mike Huber.

The two teams met last season, with Salvo SC winning 2-0 at home against St. Croix. Now playing away at St. Croix’s home ground, Salvo aims to replicate its winning ways in this matchup. For Salvo, starting the season strong and maintaining the momentum from last year's successful campaign will be essential.

The action between Salvo and St. Croix begins at 7:00pm (CST), with the match being live streamed for fans on the WPSLTV website, ensuring supporters of both Salvo SC and St. Croix Legacy can catch this exciting match up from anywhere.

In addition to this compelling game, other fixtures in Week 3 of the Northern Conference feature Minnesota Thunder facing Joy AC on Thursday, May 23 at 7:00pm (CST). Joy AC will also take on Salvo SC on Sunday, May 26 at 7:00pm (CST).
