The Women’s Premier Soccer League rolled out its full 2024 schedule today. South Region play opens this year this year on Saturday, May 11. The 2024 Central Region schedule features 146 regular season matches between May 11 and June 29, with 33 (18 returning, 15 expansion) teams competing for the conference title.

Format

• Champions of the Lonestar, Southeast, and Sunshine conferences are determined by regular season record.
• Carolinas Division winner hosts The District Division winner Saturday, July 6 to determine conference champions.
• The Lonestar Conference winner will host the South Region Playoffs on July 13-14, with the champion moving on to the WPSL Championship on July 20-21 in Stillwater, Okla.

The Charlotte Eagles quest to become the first team to win national title back-to-back in the 26-year WPSL history begins Saturday, May 18 when they take on expansion side, Trinity Fire W in Raleigh, N.C.

The next week it is a battle of expansion sides when Trinity Fire W hosts Neusa River Futbol Alliance on Thursday, May 23. Port City FC makes its WPSL debut on the road Friday, May 24 against the reigning WPSL champions.

On Friday, May 31, the Charlotte Eagles play crosstown rival, Woman’s Football Club of Charlotte, in the first debut edition of this WPSL derby.

In one of many battles of expansion clubs this season, UK F.C. and Arlington Soccer kick off the newly-formed The District Division play Saturday, May 11. UK F.C. is in action at home again a week later in another expansion derby when they host McLean Soccer on Friday, May 17.

Expansion sides Alexandria Reds and Arlington Soccer open their seasons against each other on Sunday, May 19

The only veteran club in the division, Washington Dutch Lions FC kick off its fourth WPSL season May 31 hosting Arlington Soccer.

Expansion side Futbolers Select kick off WPSL play Friday, May 24 hosting Classics Elite SA, while newcomers San Antonio Runners make its WPSL debut on the road at Austin Rise FC on Friday, May 31.

The Lonestar Conference features the most experienced clubs in the region. The 2024 season marks The Houston Aces’ eighth WPSL campaign, Classics Elite SA’s sixth, SouthStar FC’s fifth, and Austin Rise FC’s second.

The fiercely competitive Southeast Conference swings into action Saturday, May 18 with two matches: FC Birmingham hosting expansion side, FC Nashville Wolves, and 2023 regular season conference winner, Nashville Rhythm F.C. hosting Atlanta Fire United. The Rhythm went unbeaten in 2023, going 7-0-1 in conference play, finishing the season ranked sixth in the National Power Rankings and first regionally before falling to eventual WPSL champions, Charlotte Eagles, in an epic 5-4 conference final.

Chattanooga FC kicks off its third WPSL season hosting Nashville Rhythm F.C. Friday, May 24, the same day expansion club Decatur FC hosts Atlanta Fire United in its WPSL debut. In Knoxville, 865 Alliance opens its third WPSL season hosting UFA Gunners on Saturday, May 25. The Georgia Impact open its second WPSL campaign at home on Saturday, June one versus the Nashville Rhythm F.C.

Defending Sunshine Conference champions, West Florida Flames open play for the 2023 season hosting Seminole Ice Saturday, May 18. West Florida advanced to the South Region playoffs thanks to a 5-1-2 conference record, finishing the season ranked sixth in the region and 25^th in the National Power Rankings.

AGC Football hosts FC Prime in both club’s season opener in a mid-week clash on Wednesday, May 22. FC Prime finished 2023 6-1-0, ranked fifth regionally and 24^th in the National Power Rankings, falling to eventual champions, Charlotte Eagles, in the South Region Playoffs semifinals. Expansion side Dade County Football Club kicks off its inaugural season with two matches on the road, facing fellow expansion side Jacksonville Armada FC Saturday, May 25 and FC Prime Wednesday, May 29.

Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC open its seventh WPSL season at home Saturday, June 1 versus Jacksonville Armada FC, while Fusion FC travels to Orlando to begin its second WPSL campaign versus Seminole Ice. The following day, Jacksonville travels to Cape Coral to face the Cape Coral Cyclones in the club’s season opener.
