AFTER TWO SEASONS, GREEN BAY GLORY RETURNS TO WPSL WITH FOCUS SET ON ‘STEPPING UP TOGETHER’

GREEN BAY, Wis. (Jan. 5, 2024) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League confirms the return of Green Bay Glory, which is set to kick off its first WPSL season since 2021.

“We are thrilled to be a part of the WPSL so we can continue to further our mission of providing opportunities for these women on and off the field,” Kerry Geocaris, Green Bay Glory co-founder, said. “We are so proud of the strong leaders our players have become through this game and we love how Glory can provide a platform for them to succeed in life and sport while impacting their communities.”

Geocaris started the club in 2019 to start a movement that fueled advancement opportunities for her community, which saw little-to-no progression in two decades. A former WPSL player herself, Geocaris set out with two teammates, Melissa Cruz-Cuene and Bree Rezachek, to “provide an avenue for female athletes to create glorious moments both on and off the field and bring the community together.”

The Glory’s commitment to on-field success, from sold-out matches and a dedicated fanbase, and community engagement set the club apart from its competitors. Transitioning briefly from the WPSL in 2022 allowed the Glory to explore new horizons, but their return is marked with a renewed passion for providing players with even more opportunities, community involvement, and supporting women's soccer.

The Glory’s WPSL re-entry promises not just competitive matches, but a resurgence of developing the whole player and expanding its “Glory Gives Back” initiatives that amplify its commitment to local causes. In their return, Glory plans to mentor new teams in the league, collaborate with existing teams, and advocate for the growth of women’s soccer.

“We are also excited about working with other organizations to help them start teams so we can expand women’s soccer throughout the country together,” Cruz-Cuene, Green Bay Glory co-founder, said. “It really meets our mission of ‘Stepping Up Together’.”
