BEST OF THE WPSL - SO CAL CONFERENCE

OKLAHOMA CITY (August 8, 2023) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League has released the Best of the WPSL All-Conference awards from the 2023 campaign for the West Region. The Award selections include Best XI, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Franchise of the Year.

The So Cal Conference awards honorees from both its divisions – Coastal and Plymouth. Each division receives the same accolades as conferences without divisions. The Coastal Division awards feature six players from SoCal Reds FC, two players each from LA Surf Soccer Club, and one player from So Cal Union FC. Schools represented by these honorees include the University of Southern California, the University of Notre Dame, the University of California, Washington State University, and the University of Arizona.  The Plymouth Division has awarded three players each from San Diego Parcerio Ladies, ALBION San Diego, San Diego Strikers, and two players from SoCal Dutch Lions FC.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Simi Awujo, MF, FC Premier Women, USC

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Madison Perez, D, SoCal Reds FC, Long Beach State

COACH OF THE YEAR:  Tom Lancaster, SoCal Reds FC

FRANCHISE OF THE YEAR:  SoCal Reds FC

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Sakiko Manabe, MF, San Diego Parceiro, Butler Community College

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Bella Hara, GK, So Cal Dutch Lions FC, Azusa Pacific

COACH OF THE YEAR:  Daniel Cavar, ALBION San Diego

FRANCHISE OF THE YEAR:  San Diego Parceiro Ladies
