THE WPSL NAMES KENDRA HALTERMAN AS NEW COMMISSIONER HEADING INTO 25TH SEASON

OKLAHOMA CITY (Feb. 4, 2023) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced today that Kendra Halterman will be the league’s new commissioner moving forward as the WPSL prepares for its 25^th season. With the announcement, former Commissioner Rich Sparling will move into the honorary commissioner emeritus role.
 

“Kendra Halterman epitomizes what this league is all about,” Sean Jones, WPSL president, said. “For the past several years, Kendra has assumed the role that Jerry Zanelli played, constant ambassador for the league and women’s soccer at all levels, and is always the person in the room that will not accept anything less than equality in opportunity, budget, exposure, etc. for the women’s game.  Kendra is the perfect person to assume the role of Commissioner and will continue to push the WPSL to help achieve the mission of the league… ‘to provide opportunity for women in soccer’.”
 

Halterman has been involved with the league for the past 20 years while serving in a variety of aspects including as a player herself and running her own WPSL team. Halterman also served four years as a Conference Delegate before becoming an Associate Commissioner for five years then moving into a League Ambassador role which she has held for the last two years.
 

“I am thrilled and incredibly honored to be given this opportunity to lead the WPSL and to help drive its continued growth and success,” Halterman said. “Women’s soccer is on the rise, and I am excited to be a part of this amazing movement. I am committed to creating an environment that empowers and inspires female athletes and supports the growth of this sport.”
 

Matt Homonoff will remain as Deputy Commissioner for the league and will continue to oversee day-to-day soccer operations and team game day standard.
