Lauryn Hutchinson’s UNKNWN Athlete training company launches UK F.C.
RICHMOND, Va. (Jan. 24, 2024) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League welcomes UK F.C. to the league for the 2024 season.
“We eagerly anticipate our entry into the WPSL in the upcoming 2024 season [and] aim to offer our players the best level of competition,” Lauryn Hutchinson, UK F.C. owner and technical director, said.
“Both our men’s program and youth program will be excited to support from the stands [and] cheer on our girls as they not only compete but also evolve into resilient and accomplished leaders.”
Hutchinson launched UNKNWN Athlete as a premier football academy that caters to aspiring footballers from the U7 to U19 age groups and those seeking collegiate and professional avenues. The academy is structured into three integral components that are designed to sculpt and propel athletes toward their peak potential – UNKNWN Training, UNKNWN League, UNKNWN Football Club.
UK F.C.’s mission in joining the WPSL focuses on establishing a female pathway within its organization that initiates young girls’ careers and provides them with the tools and resources to achieve their most aspirational endeavors. Hutchinson and her staff recognize that not all talented players have the means to access the highest clubs, colleges, or professional opportunities and are committed to offering a WPSL experience that aims at positively impacting and transforming lives.
Hutchinson boasts an impressive twelve-year career as a [now retired] player for the Trinidad and Tobago senior women’s national team while representing her country at two Pan American Olympic Games, three CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers, and two Olympic qualifiers. Hutchinson holds a master’s degree in sports leadership and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) as well as UEFA B and USSF E & F licenses.
