FORMER WPSL PLAYERS REVIVE ENGLISH-BRANDED TEAM
AFTER GAP YEAR TO RETURN TO COMPETITION IN 2024
LOS ANGELES (Jan. 3, 2024) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League confirms the return of MISS KICK FC after missing the 2023 season – the club first entered the WPSL during the 2022 season as an expansion side.
MISS KICK FC is a recently formed team under the brand umbrella of MISS KICK – a football brand Grace Vella founded, and serves as CEO, in England after her playing career with Liverpool and Manchester City. MISS KICK is headquartered in Manchester, England but its WPSL team will be based in Southern California.
For its return, MISS KICK FC will be led by two former WPSL players, and established business professionals, Madison Beckley and Megan McCashland. Beckley says the club is “back and ready” to take the WPSL field again and the duo leadership is “excited to work closely with the girls on the field simultaneously establishing a strong foundation for the team behind the scenes.
“Myself and Grace [Vella] have decided to continue the build of MISS KICK FC after a successful 2022 season,” Beckley said.
“Our values continue to align with the intention to continue improving the lives of women and girls through incredible products and experiences that harness the power of sport.”
During its inaugural season in 2022, MISS KICK FC went 4-1-3 to finish second in the table of the Coastal Division for the So Cal Conference after outscoring its opponents 24-7.
“We have set high goals for the 2024 season and the longevity of the team,” Beckley said. “We are excited to work hard and bring the community together while doing it.”
