AMERICAN SOCCER FIGURE, PETER WILT, ENTERS 14TH START-UP
INTO WPSL COMPETITION FOR 2024 SEASON
CHICAGO (Dec. 28, 2023) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League officially welcomes Chicago House AC to its 2024 Roster of Teams. With the announcement, the club confirms it will enter its first season with its women’s team after playing an independent schedule in 2023.
“The WPSL club will be aspirational for youth players in the area who want to watch the game played at a high level and hope to play for Chicago House in the future,” Peter Wilt, Chicago House AC managing partner and president, said.
As one of the most respected and well-known executives in American soccer, Wilt stated that joining the WPSL was “a natural evolution of the House’s women’s program.” Wilt has become a pioneer in advancing American soccer by emphasizing community-building and fan engagement models. With the launch of Chicago House AC’s women’s team, Wilt has helped start 14 teams including Chicago Fire (MLS), which won the MLS Cup, U.S. Open Cup, and the Supporter’s Shield in its first year, and the Chicago Red Stars (NWSL).
Also among Chicago House’s leadership is Chief Operating Officer, Brian Koenig, who started his career in sports in 2009 with the Chicago Red Stars and is the current president of Soccer 2000, a soccer specialty store based in Chicago. Jenn Jarmula, who has been involved in professional soccer since 1994, including volunteering with the communications teams of the FIFA Men’s World Cup in 1994 and the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 1999 – Jarmula serves as the club’s director of team relations and communications.
Last month, the club named Henry Cheung as its head coach for its inaugural 2024 WPSL season. Cheung has already built a relationship with the Chicago House AC organization after leading the women’s team through its independent schedule of eight away games last year. Cheung also holds WPSL coaching experience after leading the Dutch Lions’ Chicago side in 2022.
“I am extremely excited and motivated to lead the Chicago House women's team on the field next season and beyond,” Cheung said. “Our journey begins today, and I am eager to begin work immediately ahead of our inaugural year of competition in WPSL next season.”
