BEST OF THE WPSL - MOUNTAIN CONFERENCE

OKLAHOMA CITY (August 9, 2023) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League has announced the 2023 Best of the WPSL All-Conference awards in the Central Region. The accolades include Best XI, Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, and Franchise of the Year.

The Mountain Conference awards feature honorees from both the Rockies and Wasatch Divisions. For the Rockies Division, three players each from Boulder County United, Colorado Rapids Women, and Indios Denver FC and two players from Colorado Pride have been named. These players represent programs including South Dakota State, the University of Denver, the University of Colorado, the University of Iowa, and the University of Wyoming. The Wasatch Division has awarded players from Utah Avalanche (four), Griffins FC (three), Utah Surf (two), Utah Red Devils (one), and La Roca FC (one). The eleven players named represent universities including Brigham Young, Iowa St., UCLA, the University of New Mexico, and Utah Valley University.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Alyssa Glover, F, Colorado Rapids Women, Wyoming

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Hannah Gallegos, D, Colorado Rapids Women, Denver

COACH OF THE YEAR:  Steph Hempen and Jeff Frykholm, Boulder County United

FRANCHISE OF THE YEAR:  Colorado Rapids Women

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Colette Jepson Smith, F, Utah Avalanche, BYU

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR:  Brooklyn Nelson, GK, Utah Surf, Utah Valley

COACH OF THE YEAR:  Brad Silvey, Utah Surf

FRANCHISE OF THE YEAR:  Utah Avalanche
