FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MONROE, N.Y. (Jan. 6, 2023) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced today that Force FC will officially compete in the 2023 season as the league’s latest expansion team. With the announcement, the WPSL deepens its presence on the East Coast as Force FC becomes the league’s eighth member in New York.
“Force FC is honored to be a part of the WPSL [as it] stands for a high level of play and professionalism,” Brendan Lawler, Force FC director of player and coach development, said. “To be able to offer that [the WPSL] to our growing pool of college players and others in the area is an exciting opportunity, both in terms of tremendous competition and to continue to offer player development opportunities against such high-level competition.”
Force FC was established in 2014 after Monroe Woodbury Soccer Club and Monroe United Soccer Club merged into a unified organization with the ambition to provide additional soccer developmental opportunities to players of all levels throughout the Monroe-Woodbury area and the Hudson Valley. As the competitive sector of the newly formed Monroe Woodbury United Soccer Club (MWUSC), Force FC has continued this player-centric developmental model for the last nine years and will utilize the WPSL platform to carry on this mission at a greater scale.
Additionally, Force FC and MWUSC have priorities off the field also as the unit moves forward with building its roster and preparations for its inaugural WPSL season. The club looks to fully submerge itself within the Hudson Valley community by way of soccer, the WPSL, and its local partners. This unified relationship between all parties will directly benefit the community as the club announces future themes and opportunities in the coming months.
Force FC has confirmed its home venue for the 2023 season will be Hudson Sports Complex in Warwick, N.Y. Coaching announcements will be unveiled at a later date.
