MOLINE, Ill. (February 22, 2022) – The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced today, Quad Cities Rush has joined the league for the 2022 season. The announcement comes after the league unveiled its 2022 Roster of Teams and Alignment. For its inaugural season, Quad Cities Rush will compete in the Heartland Division of the Midwest Conference of the league's Central Region.
"Expansion into the WPSL is an exciting addition to the Quad Cities Rush soccer programing," Darren Gault, Quad Cities Rush director of coaching, said. "Adding the top amateur women's adult league in North America gives young women in the area an opportunity to continue their soccer careers, get exposure to top national talent and compete at a high level. This opportunity can empower young women and give them greater advancement opportunities."
Quad Cities Rush is the largest soccer club in the Quad Cities area – a region that encompasses Eastern Iowa and Western/Central Illinois. In 2018, the Moline Soccer Club became an entity of Rush Soccer, which has been operating in Moline since 1978. Quad Cities is an affiliate of the national brand Rush, which has provided unparalleled opportunities for its players.
The club operates boys and girls youth soccer teams at both the recreational and competitive levels for ages U6-U19. The club views the WPSL platform as an opportunity to expand its reach for young women who wish to play at the top amateur level in North America.
Quad Cities Rush has named Randy Bollman its head coach for the 2022 season. Bollman holds a USSF National C License with nearly 20 years of club soccer coaching experience with ages U8 through U19. Bollman has also served nine years as the varsity girls' head soccer coach at Alleman Catholic high school and four years as a member of the Illinois ODP coaching staff.
“I’m very grateful that Quad Cities Rush has offered me the opportunity to coach this team and the chance to work with what will no doubt be an amazing group of soccer players,” Bollman said. “My expectations for the first year are to be as competitive as possible in our WPSL conference with the understanding that this is a building year for our program. It will be very important to create a solid foundation so we can continue to grow the team in the years to come.”
