READING UNITED A.C. RETURNS TO EAST REGION FINAL AFTER DEFEATING HOSTS

Reading United A.C. advanced to the East Region Playoff finals Saturday, topping SUSA FC 2-1 in the semifinal nightcap at SUSA Orlin and Cohen Sports Complex in Central Islip N.Y.

Carly Fairchild and Emma Elwell scored second-half goals to put Reading up 2-0 before Jill Garcia pulled SUSA a goal back with ten minutes to play. 

After a tight, scoreless first half, Ashley Lavrich put the Mid-Atlantic winners in the lead in the 49’ minute with her first goal of the season.

Rebecca Kotula doubled the lead in the 57’ minute.

Daniela Monzon pulled the Metropolitan Conference champs back a goal in the 79’ minute, but it was little consolation as the East Region tournament hosts were eliminated. 

With the win, Reading United A.C. faces Clarkston Soccer Club in Sunday’s East Region Playoff final at SUSA Orlin and Cohen Sports Complex in Central Islip N.Y. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM EDT.
