NATIONAL POWER RANKINGS - WEEK 8

After two weeks at No. 2, Sioux Falls City FC unseated Northern Conference rival, Salvo SC, from the No. 1 spot the old-fashioned way—by beating them. FC Milwaukee Torrent and Clarkstown Soccer Club both jumped two spots from last week, into the second and third spots respectively. Ambassadors Cleveland made the biggest jump at the No. 6 spot, up eight spots, with the Colorado Pride breaking into the Top 10 for the first time this season at No. 7. Friday’s 1-0 loss to Sioux Falls City made Salvo SC the biggest drop, falling four spots to No. 5.

1. SIOUX FALLS CITY FC (9-0-0)

Central Region — Northern Conference

Week 7 Rank: 2


A huge 1-0 home win over Salvo SC earned Sioux Falls the No. 1 ranking after two weeks at No. 2 and the Northern Conference title with a perfect 9-0-0 record. Mia Bosch (South Dakota State University) scored the deciding goal versus Salvo to put Sioux Falls into the Central Region Playoffs. 


Katharina Oelschlaeger (Florida Gulf Coast University) leads the club with eight regular season goals followed by Mia Mullenmeister (Utah State University) with seven and Hailee Christensen (South Dakota State University) with five, accounting for the conference-leading 32 goals. 


Sioux Falls goalkeeper, Cambell Fischer (University of South Dakota) leads the WPSL conceding only a single goal all season while starting in eight of the club’s nine wins this season.

2. FC MILWAUKEE TORRENT (8-0-0)

Central Region — Midwest Conference — Lake Michigan Division

Week 7 Rank: 4


Big wins over Chicago House AC and Quad Cities Rush to close out the regular season bumped the Lake Michigan Division champs up two spots to close out the perfect 8-0-0 season. 


The club’s 31 goals on the season is double the amount scored by the next closest club. Josie Bieda (Marquette University) led all scorers with seven goals, followed by Addison Stanciak (Saint Louis University) with six. 


Goalkeepers Mikki Easter (post-collegiate) and Madison Osborn (University of Nebraska) split goalkeeping duties with each making four appearances over the season. The duo combined for a league-best three goals against. 


Next Up — FC Milwaukee Torrent travels to face Gateway Division representative FC Pride for the Midwest Conference championship. 


 

3. CLARKSTOWN SOCCER CLUB (8-0-0)

East Region — Northeastern Conference

Week 7 Rank: 5


Runaway winners of the Northeastern Conference, Clarkston climbed two spots on the strength of a pair of wins to close out its regular season: 3-0 in the home finale versus Force FC New York and a 4-2 win at second-place Rhode Island Rogues.


Kelly Brady (University of Mississippi) captured the Northeastern Conference scoring title with 12 goals,banging in three last week to put her into the top spot, followed by Ava Giudice (Fordham University) with five goals on the season.


Next Up — Clarkstown Soccer Club travels to the East Region Playoffs hosted by the Metropolitan Conference winners, SUSA FC, in Central Islip, N.Y. July 13 and 14. 


 

4. FC DAYTON (8-0-0)

Central Region — Midwest Conference — Gateway Division

Week 7 Rank: 3


FC Dayton celebrated its regular season Gateway Division title last Saturday with a 1-0 win over Dayton Dutch Lions FC in front of its home fans to close out the season. Elise Canter (Wright State University) tallied the game’s lone goal in the season finale and brought the club’s total to 30 on the season. 


Peyton Kohls (Xavier University) led the club in scoring with seven goals, followed by Jenna Hallbeck (Carnegie Mellon University) and Dani Hicks (Ashland University) with five each. 


Kassidy Roshong (University of Missouri), Sofia Rodriguez (Western Carolina University), and Natalie Ryan (Ohoio Wesleyan University) shared goalkeeping responsibilities for the season, conceding a conference-best five goals on the season. 


 

5. SALVO SC (8-0-1)

Central Region — Northern Conference 

Week 7 Rank: 1


It was a bad week for last week’s No 1. A heartbreaking 1-0 loss at No. 2 Sioux Falls City FC in Week 8 ended Salvo’s hopes of returning to the WPSL Championships in Stillwater for a second straight year. Salvo ended the 2024 campaign three points out of first place in the Northern Conference standings.


Two-time regional player-of-the-week and national player-of-the-week winner, Khyah Harper (University of Minnesota), leads the WPSL Golden Boot race with 16, accounting for more than half of the 28 goals Salved scored over its nine-game season. 


Ayden Gagner (Duquesne University) featured in goal for Salvo in seven of the club’s nine matches, conceding two goals—one in the first game of the season and one in the last—collecting five clean sheets in the process. 


 

6. AMBASSADORS CLEVELAND (7-1-0)

East Region — Great Lakes Conference — Great River Division

Week 7 Rank: 14


This week’s biggest climbers, Ambassador’s Cleveland wrapped up its third consecutive division title with three Week 8 wins: 2-0 at Beadling Soccer club on Wednesday, 5-1 over then-No. 13 Columbus Eagles FC on Friday in Ambassador’s home finale, and 2-1 at Greater Toledo Futbol Club on Sunday to close out the season. 


In the club’s four WPSL seasons, it has yet to lose a game. The only blemish on this season’s unbeaten record was a 3-3 draw at the Columbus Eagles in Week 3. 


Taylor Huff (Florida State University) led Ambassadors Cleveland with six goals on the season, followed by Emma Flick (Xavier University) and Shea Vidovic (College of Charleston) with four goals each. 


 

7. COLORADO PRIDE (6-0-1)

Central Region — Mountain Conference — Rockies Division

Week 7 Rank: 11


Climbing into the Top 10 for the first time this season, the high-scoring Colorado Pride clinched its first Rockies Division title after finishing runners-up for the last three years. Pride clinched the division on Saturday with a declarative 5-1 win over its closest challenger, PDS Academy. Bello, continued her torrid goalscoring streak, banging in three, along with Abby Stassi and Kendall Gouner (University of Texas, San Antonio). 


With 13 goals and counting, Bello (Otero College) ran away with the Rockies Division Golden Boot, and with a game to play, remains in the hunt for the league honor three back from the leader, followed by strike-partner, Stassi (University of Wyoming), with six goals on the season.


Starting six of the Pride’s seven games, goalkeeper Molly Wissman (Denver University) leads the division conceding only three goals this season.

8. ARLINGTON SOCCER (7-1-0)

South Region — Atlantic Conference — The District Division

Week 7 Rank: 7


The highest-ranking expansion side in this week’s poll, Arlington Soccer rode a wave of early season momentum to The District Division title. Arlington closed out its inaugural season with a 7-1 win in its home finale that saw seven different players get on the score sheet.


Kate Hawley (University of Maryland) led all Arlington goal-scorers with four on the season. 


 

9. CHARLOTTE EAGLES (7-0-1)

South Region — Atlantic Conference — Carolinas Division

Week 7 Rank: 9


Holding at No 9, the Charlotte Eagles took a huge step towards defending its 2023 WPSL National Championship by clinching the Carolinas Division title by three points over expansion side Port City FC. Charlotte will carry the momentum from two huge Week 8 wins over Trinity Fire in a home-and-away series into Saturday’s Atlantic Conference final versus The District representative in Charlotte. 


Charlotte has relied on goalscoring by committee, with 15 players accounting for the club’s 23 goals over eight matches. 


Up Next — The Charlotte Eagles host The District Division representative, McLean Soccer, on Saturday, July 6 for a berth into the South Region Playoffs.


 

10. UTAH SURF (8-1-1)

Central Region — Mountain Conference — Wasatch Division 

Week 7 Rank: 8


The Wasatch Division champs fell two spots despite its final win over Northern Utah United. In capturing its first division title, the Surf handed the Utah Avalanche its first two losses in WPSL history, including a stunning 4-2 win in Week 6. 


McKenzie Evans (post-collegiate) led the club with 10 goals on the season, followed by Danika Serassio (post-collegiate) and Makinna Winterton (post-collegiate) with seven. The club averaged 3.4 goals a game, conceding only nine. 


 

11. SC del SOL (9-1-0)

West Region — Desert Conference
