EAST REGION RANKINGS - WEEK 8

Published Jul 3, 2024

Clarkstown Soccer Club cemented its place at the No. 1 spot in the East Region with a perfect season. Spots two through 10, however, things are a little more tumultuous. STA jumped a whopping six places into the No. 4 position, and both SJEB FC and Reading United A.C. climbed back into the Top 10. Columbus Eagles FC made the biggest drop of the week, falling five spots to No. 8.

(Team records are listed by the international standard: wins-draws-losses.)

1. CLARKSTOWN SOCCER CLUB (8-0-0)

Northeastern Conference

Week 7 Rank: 1

What more can be said about the Northeastern Conference champs? Clarkstown took over the No. 1 spot in Week 4 and hasn’t given it up since.

Kelly Brady (University of Mississippi) captured the Northeastern Conference scoring title with 12 goals—banging in three last week to put her into the top spot, followed by Ava Giudice (Fordham University) with five goals on the season.

Next Up — Clarkstown Soccer Club travels to the East Region Playoffs hosted by the Metropolitan Conference winners, SUSA FC, in Central Islip, N.Y. July 13 and 14.

2. AMBASSADORS CLEVELAND (7-1-0)

Great Lakes Conference — Great River Division

Week 7 Rank: 4

Ambassadors Cleveland jumps into the No. 2 spot clinching its third straight division title with three Week 8 wins. The only blemish on this season’s unbeaten record was a 3-3 draw at the Columbus Eagles in Week 3.

Taylor Huff (Florida State University) led Ambassadors Cleveland with six goals on the season, followed by Emma Flick (Xavier University) and Shea Vidovic (College of Charleston) with four goals each.

3. DOWNTOWN UNITED SOCCER CLUB (6-1-1)

Metropolitan Conference

Week 7 Rank: 2

A 9-0 win at NJ Wizards SC to close out the season was not enough to keep DUSC from dropping one spot to No. 3. DUSC finished second in the always-competitive Metropolitan Conference, finishing two points back of SUSA FC.

Monica Viveros (academy) led the club in scoring with seven goals, followed by Dylan Jovanovic (Princeton University) and Claire Pinnie (Columbia University) with five.

4. STA (6-1-1)

Metropolitan Conference

Week 7 Rank: 10

Week 8 wins at New York Athletic Club and Brooklyn City F.C. helped STA jump from No. 10 to No. 4. STA finished its 2024 campaign two points behind Metropolitan Conference winners SUSA FC.

Week 7 East Regional Player of the Week, Jaiden Schultz (Boston University) finished as the club’s top scorer with three goals on the season.

5. PA CLASSICS (7-1-2)

Mid-Atlantic Conference — Commonwealth Division

Week 7 Rank: 6

After three games in Week 8, PA Classics moved up one spot to No. 5 and finished third in the Commonwealth Division title race.

Kristen Economopoulos (Wagner College) earned the club’s Golden Boot honors with five goals on the season.

6. SUSA FC (7-0-1)

Metropolitan Conference

Week 7 Rank: 5

Idle in Week 8, SUSA dropped one spot despite clinching the Metropolitan Conference, finishing two points ahead of No. 3 Downtown United Soccer Club, and No. 4 STA in the conference standings. The club’s only blemish came at the hands of STA, a 3-2 road loss to close out the regular season.

Up Next — SUSA hosts the East Region Playoffs July 13 and 14.

7. SJEB FC (5-3-1)

Mid-Atlantic Conference — Colonial Division

Week 7 Rank: Unranked

SJEB jumped back into the Top 10 thanks to a pair of 2-1 wins in Week 8. The club finished second in the division.

Delaney Lappin (post-collegiate) leads all scorers for the resurging SJEB with eight goals as the club.

8. COLUMBUS EAGLES FC (5-2-1)

Great Lakes Conference — Great River Division

Week 7 Rank: 3

A tough 5-1 loss at Ambassadors Cleveland to close out the season knocked the Columbus Eagles FC back five spots, finishing the season in second place, five points behind the division winners.

Nikki Cox (post-collegiate) finished the season with 10 goals to lead all scorers for the Eagles.

9. PENN FUSION SA (5-3-1)

Mid-Atlantic Conference — Colonial Division

Week 7 Rank: 8

Down one from last week after a 3-1 loss to Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals. The loss put the Fusion’s claim to the Colonial Division in jeopardy.

10. READING UNITED A.C. (6-2-2)

Mid-Atlantic Conference — Commonwealth Division
