NATIONAL POWER RANKINGS - WEEK 7

Published Jun 26, 2024

The cream is rising to the top.

The only thing changing in this week’s top five are the number of wins accumulated over the last week. Positions one through five remain the same as last week, with all but one team, No. 5 Clarkstown Soccer Club, hailing from the Central Region.

The biggest jump is No. 6 KC Courage, up eight spots from last week, while Arlington Soccer, Utah Surf, and UFA Gunners all dropped spots within the Top 10.

1. SALVO SC (7-0-0)

Central Region — Northern Conference

Week 6 Rank: 1

Salvo SC is playing like it has something to prove. So is leading scorer Khyah Harper. With 15 goals and counting, Harper (University of Minnesota) is running away with the Golden Boot. In Salvo’s two Week 7 wins, Harper tallied seven goals and one assist.

Salvo opened Week 7 with a 6-0 midweek win versus Manitou F.C., followed by a 6-0 win at Rochester United FC on Sunday.

Next Up — Salvo travels to MapleBrook Fury (1-2-3) on today before its regular season finale in a winner-takes-all season finale at No. 2 Sioux Falls City FC (7-0-0) on Friday.

2. SIOUX FALLS CITY FC (7-0-0)

Central Region — Northern Conference

Week 6 Rank: 2

Sioux Falls City FC’s 5-0 win at Dakota Fusion FC last week set up a winner-takes-all clash against No. 1 Salvo SC on Friday. The winner of that game is all but assured to take the Northern Conference title. Though with a game at hand on Friday, Sioux Falls can still take the conference title with a draw versus Salvo.

Sioux Falls is led by Katharina Oelschlaeger (Florida Gulf Coast University) with eight goals and Mia Mullenmeister with seven. Oelschlaeger (Florida Gulf Coast University) and Mullenmeister (Utah State University) account for 15 of the 33 goals the club has scored over seven matches this season.

Next Up — Sioux Falls City FC hosts the No. 1-ranked Salvo SC on Friday. Then will play its final regular season match of the season at St. Croix Legacy (3-1-2) on Sunday.

3. FC DAYTON (8-1-0)

Central Region — Midwest Conference — Gateway Division

Week 6 Rank: 3

Runaway winners of the Gateway Division, FC Dayton enter its final regular season match with a nine-point lead over FC Pride. Dayton holds at third on the strength of two Week 7 wins: 2-0 at FC Pride on Tuesday and 5-1 versus Lou Fusz Athletic on Saturday.

Peyton Kohls added to her goal total with a goal at FC Pride, bringing her total to seven on the season. Jenna Hallbeck (Carnegie Mellon University) and Dani Hicks (Ashland University) each have five goals on the season.

Next Up — FC Dayton closes out Gateway Division play Saturday, June 29 hosting Dayton Dutch Lions FC (1-1-7, 4 pts).

4. FC MILWAUKEE TORRENT (6-0-0)

Central Region — Midwest Conference — Lake Michigan Division

Week 6 Rank: 4

Wins at Green Bay Glory and Chicago KICS Football Club last week all but sealed up the Lake Michigan Division title for the third straight season.

Addison Stanciak (Saint Louis University) leads the club with six goals on the season, followed by Josie Bieda (Marquette University) and Alexa Maletis (Marquette University) with three each. Milwaukee has outscored opponents 23 to three in six games.

Next Up — FC Milwaukee Torrent hosts Chicago House AC (2-1-3, 7 pts.) on Wednesday, and closes out the regular season hosting Quad Cities Rush (0-1-6, -2* pts.)

5. CLARKSTOWN SOCCER CLUB (6-0-0)

East Region — Northeastern Conference

Week 6 Rank: 5

Clarkstown takes a seven-point cushion into its final two regular season matches remaining in Northeastern Conference play after topping the New York Shockers 3-1 last Friday. Lena Johnsen (Fordham University) opened scoring, followed with goals by Isabella Winn (UCLA) and Ava Giudice (Fordham University).

With nine goals on the season so far, Kelly Brady (University of Mississippi) trails in the Northeastern Conference Golden Boot race by one goal.

Next Up — Clarkstown Soccer Club closes out its home schedule Tuesday, June 25 versus Force FC New York (1-1-5, 4 pts.), and Saturday at No. 21 Rhode Island Rogues (4-1-1, 13 pts.).

6. KC COURAGE (6-0-1)

Central Region — Heartland Conference

Week 6 Rank: 14

After a week in the wilderness, KC Courage is back in the Top 10, up eight spots from last week thanks to two shutout Week 7 wins, including a huge 3-0 win at first-place Union KC.

The Courage’s only blemish on the season is a 2-1 loss at Oklahoma City FC in Week 5. The Courage sits three points out of first in the conference behind Union KC (6-1-1, 22 pts.), with a game in hand. The two clubs face off Tuesday for tenuous control of their own fate in the final week of play.

Kaira Houser (post-collegiate) leads the conference in scoring, accounting for seven of the Courage’s 23 goals so far this season.

Next Up — KC Courage and closes out the regular season on Sunday at home versus Missouri Reign (1-1-5, 4 pts.)

7. ARLINGTON SOCCER (6-1-0)

South Region — Atlantic Conference — The District Division

Week 6 Rank: 6

Two wins and eight goals was not enough to keep Arlington Soccer from dropping one spot this week.

Six points clear of McLean Soccer at the top of the The District table, Arlington holds a 5-0 win in its pocket should it come to a head-to-head tiebreaker to decide the division winner. The two clubs played to a 0-0 draw in the second meeting.

Katie Hawley (University of Maryland) leads the expansion side in scoring with four goals on the season.

Next Up — Arlington closes out its inaugural regular season Sunday at home versus Washington Dutch Lions FC (0-1-5, 1 pt.)

8. UTAH SURF (7-1-1)

Central Region — Mountain Conference — Wasatch Division

Week 6 Rank: 7

Down one spot from last week, the Utah Surf is on the brink of the club’s first ever Wasatch Division title. Sitting two points ahead of La Roca FC (6-2-1, 20 pts.) Surf holds its destiny in its own hands when it closes out the regular season versus expansion side Northern Utah United (1-0-7, 3 pts.).

McKenzie Evans (post-collegiate) leads the club with seven goals, followed by Danika Serassio (post-collegiate) with six and Makinna Winterton (post-collegiate) with five.

Next Up — The Utah Surf can win its first ever Wasatch Division title on Saturday with a win over Northern Utah United to close out the regular season.

9. CHARLOTTE EAGLES (5-0-1)

South Region — Atlantic Division — Carolinas Conference

Week 6 Rank: 9

Never underestimate the Charlotte Eagles. Last year, when just about everyone had written it off, Charlotte rode a wave of post-season momentum all the way to the WPSL title.

The only blemish on the Eagles season is 2-1 loss at Port City FC in Week 4. And the Eagles have been on a tear ever since, including a 9-1 win versus Neuse River Futbol Alliance last Saturday.

Meredith King (post-collegiate) leads the club with three of the Eagles’ 20 goals on the season.

With a three-point lead over expansion side Port City FC (4-0-2, 12 pts.), Charlotte will earn a berth into the Atlantic Conference championship match with a win and a draw in its final two matches this week.

Next Up — The Eagles close out the season in a home-and-away series with the Trinity Fire (2-0-4, 6 pts.), playing away on Wednesday, and closing out the regular season in the return match on Saturday.

10. UFA GUNNERS (5-2-0)

South Region — Southeast Conference

Week 6 Rank: 8

A 2-2 draw at Georgia Impact caused the biggest drop in the Top 10 this week and puts the Gunners title hopes in jeopardy as the club enters a bye week before its final match of the season in a must-win situation next Monday. Nashville Rhythm F.C. (5-1-1, 17 pts.) and Georgia Impact, (4-2-1, 14 pts.) 865 Alliance (4-2-1, 14 pts.) and Decatur FC (4-1-1, 13 pts.) can catch the Gunners over the weekend.

Jordynn Dudley (Florida State University) leads the Gunners with five goals on the season.
