OKLAHOMA CITY – The Women’s Premier Soccer League has announced the schedule for the Northern Division of the Carolinas Conference for the upcoming 2021 season. As a result of the league’s largest expansion-team class since the 2017 season, the Carolinas Conference has been divided into three divisions – the only such conference with more than two divisions this season.

The Northern Division will feature teams from the Greensboro, Raleigh, and Charlotte areas and will be represented by North Carolina Fusion U-23, Oak City United, Wake FC, and Independence North. Each of the four teams have been members of the WPSL for the past five seasons.

North Carolina Fusion U-23, Oak City United, and Independence North all entered the league in 2016 and are set to compete in their fifth WPSL season. North Carolina Fusion U-23 finished first in conference standings for 2019 with a one-loss record while outscoring opponents 20/8.

Wake FC is looking to start their second season with the WPSL after joining in 2019. They finished their inaugural season 3rd in conference standings.

The Northern Division schedule will consist of 16 matches between late May and mid-July with each team playing four matches home and away.

Wake FC and Oak City United will kick off the season on May 20th with Wake FC hosting. North Carolina Fusion U-23 (May 22nd ) and Independence North (May 26th) will both open at home.
